SciLifeLab has launched an institutional instance of protocols.io, giving researchers access to a premium platform for creating, organising, and sharing experimental and computational protocols. Protocols.io is an online tool that enables scientists to run, reuse, develop and publish interactive, step-by-step research methods that are clearer, more accessible, and easier to update than traditional static documents.

Each published protocol receives a digital object identifier (DOI), making it discoverable and citable in the scientific community. Researchers affiliated with SciLifeLab can receive a premium access to the SciLifeLab protocols.io instance. The platform supports collaboration across research groups within Sweden and beyond, allowing users to add visuals, share versions, and track changes over time. This institutional access helps strengthen reproducibility and aligns with open science and FAIR principles by encouraging methods to be shared and reused.
