SciLifeLab AI Network
The SciLifeLab AI Network is a community for researchers, technical staff, and developers exploring AI in life science research. Through Slack discussions, seminars, and discussion groups, members can share experiences, exchange practical knowledge, get peer support, and connect with others across disciplines.
The network is part of the SciLifeLab AI strategy and is organised by NBIS and SciLifeLab Data Centre.
Why join the AI Network?
-
For community members: Discuss AI tools, share tips, and learn from peers working with AI in life science research.
-
For developers: Get feedback, find pilot users, and make your tools visible to the community. The network also provides opportunities for AI tool developers to connect, exchange practical development tips, and start collaborations with others building tools and workflows.
-
For SciLifeLab leadership and management: Gain insight into community needs, interests, and real use cases to help guide future AI development and support.
Get involved
The network’s main communication channel is #ai-network on the SciLifeLab Slack workspace, where events are announced and members share and discuss AI-related news and projects.
If you are not affiliated with SciLifeLab and want to join our Slack, or if you want to receive email notifications about the seminars, contact us at ai-network@scilifelab.se.
Meetings/Events
The network organises two types of meetings: AI Network discussions, and a public AI Seminar Series. All meetings are hosted on Zoom.
SciLifeLab AI Seminar Series
The AI Seminar Series hosts monthly talks from speakers working with AI in Life Science, both from academia and industry. Topics range from deep learning and integrative omics to AI agents, computational drug discovery, and clinical NLP, highlighting current developments where AI meets biology. Community members are welcome to suggest future speakers and topics.
The AI Seminar Series typically runs at 10am (CET/CEST) on the third Friday of the month during academic terms (with some exceptions).
View the schedule, suggest future speakers, and read more on the AI Seminar Series page on scilifelab.se.
AI Network Discussions
The AI Network Discussions are informal, community-driven sessions for exchanging practical AI knowledge in Life Science research: what works, what does not, and what is emerging. Sessions are based on topics suggested and led by community members, with opportunities for discussion and questions.
The discussions are typically held at 10am (CET/CEST) on the first Friday of the month during academic terms (with some exceptions).
Upcoming discussions are announced in the Slack channel, #ai-network, and through the mailing list.
